Music rooted in the world, at home in Styria
What does Graz sound like away from the major cultural institutions? What music can be heard – some of it still undiscovered – in Styrian living rooms, pubs or club rooms? To find out, music producer Jochen Kühling sets off on a journey. His search takes him from living rooms to pubs to club houses and finally ends up in cellars, former company premises, quiet backyards and pretty halls.
The Latin American guiro and the Styrian harmonica can both be heard there. Jochen gets to know people who cultivate their music with quality and love, who see themselves as artists and cultural ambassadors. They love the stage and the feeling of conveying something that is relevant to themselves and to society. This is music that has travelled with people from all over the world and become what it is today. This is music from Styria that you have to hear! We are bringing these people and their music to the stage of Oper Graz. It will be a great spectacle, a real show – with lots of good music. It will be Wöd!
