Concert for International Women’s Day
The Schick Sisters are taking International Women’s Day as an opportunity to invite Austrian female musicians to the Graz Opera House on Monday, 9 March 2026, to celebrate together and give visibility to the diversity of the female cultural scene. Many wonderful Austrian acts, including Kernölamazonen, Sosamma and Virgina Ernst, will conjure up an unforgettable evening on stage that focuses on the music of Austrian women. This evening will also be special because the legendary OPUS Band will provide musical support for the ladies with their global hit Live is Life.
According to Katharina Schick, singer/songwriter, there are so many wonderful female musicians, female-inspired projects and bands in Austria. But the stages are still dominated by their male colleagues. The audience needs to be made aware of this in order to bring about change. Only by working together can we move forward! For Virginia Ernst, songwriter, it is time for women to find their place in the charts, enrich the line-ups of major festivals and be treated fairly and equally by the media.
